Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Field Service Technician role to join our growing and dynamic Field Operations team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The successful Field Service Technician candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for conducting customer service visits, documentation, day-to-day repair, and preventative maintenance for various transit agencies and clients. You will identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, work with manufacturers, or field personnel as necessary to procure replacement parts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions.   • Maintain Luminator’s hardware and software and handle customer questions about the state of the system.
  • Sustain proficiency in all products and services that the company offers. This includes staying current with installation standard methodologies, equipment protocol, and safety guidelines.
  • Provide on-site pre-start-up, start-up, contracted service work, warranty, troubleshooting, and training of Luminator products, and ensure equipment is operational and free of defects.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions on equipment.
  • Accurately document the work that is performed at a customer facility. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Handle customer service-related issues while fostering the customer relationship and working to solve technical problems on site.
  • Deal directly with and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors and other Luminator personnel in support of service operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment applying own technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems.
  • Accurately document the work that is performed at a customer. Professionally document work completed on periodic preventive maintenance as well as intermittent corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Review product prints and specifications.
  • When required, play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers.
  • Work with site management to review and ensure the product(s) are installed to specifications.
  • Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments.
  • Document processes.
  • Operate vehicles in a safe manner and use field systems appropriately.
  • Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols.
  • Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization.
  • Build positive relationships with customers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-4 years technical experience required.
  • HS diploma or equivalent required.
  • AS degree; A+ certification preferred. 
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of business principles involved in strategic planning, repair techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and transit systems.
  • Knowledge of MathWorks, Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Visual Basic, and SCADA software.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to speak clearly so others comprehend the delivery of the message.
  • Technical and business knowledge including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Prior experience with ERP environments and planning in database tools preferred.
  • Clean DMV record and valid Driver License.
ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES:
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues in a clear, concise matter, to individuals with little or no technical background.
  • Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change along with having attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to maintain electronic equipment.
  • Ability to review technical documents to plan work.
  • Ability to confer with other personnel to resolve operational issues.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure all deadlines are met is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with details and fluctuating work volumes.
