We’re searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Engineering team and play a key role in driving our vision forward.
What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept with solid growth potential. You’ll be responsible for developing mechanical components and technology for new and existing aviation-based interior and exterior lighting products for commercial and military aircraft. You will:
- Design, develop, analyze, and document innovative new aircraft lighting products and systems to meet functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
- Execute design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and aviation standards, including RTCA DO-160.
- Document technical data in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
- Identify and implement tools, methods, and processes to improve quality, reliability, and productivity.
- Apply advanced techniques and modified extensions of theories to solve a wide range of complex problems.
- Identify and resolve defects, including field and production issues, using proper engineering tools and techniques.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure product excellence.
- Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Other duties as required.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
- Experience with structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with electrical/electronics packaging design, including machined components, sheet metal, and injection-molded plastics.
- Proficiency in mechanical CAD systems such as:
- ANSYS
- CATIA V5
- SolidWorks
- SolidEdge
- Knowledge of total quality, lean manufacturing, and design for manufacturability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of mechanical design experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Prior experience with:
- LED lighting
- RTCA DO-160
- Electro-mechanical drivetrains and motors
