Luminator is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer that is responsible for troubleshooting new or existing designs, materials, or processes for aviation-based interior and exterior lighting products for commercial and military aircraft.  

Applicants must have valid U.S. work authorization. Sponsorship is not offered for this role.
Role is onsite at our Plano, Texas headquarters, Monday-Friday.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Designs innovative new products ensuring they meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
  • Engage in system concept development, requirements engineering, system architecture development and evaluation, and test strategy development.
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes, products, or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design.
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Identifies, quantifies, and implements tools, methods, processes, and equipment, which have the potential to improve the quality, reliability, and productivity of the department.
  • Uses advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Determines and develops own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives.
  • Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
  • Own product delivery timeline through conception, design, assembly, and launch.
  • Identifies and resolves defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques.
  • Other job duties as required.
Education:  Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.

Experience:  Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience

  • Goal-oriented and possess the ability to prioritize on a consistent basis in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, organization and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, Board members, Committee members or other outside partners.
  • Occupation which satisfies this work value allows employees to work on their own and make decisions, with corresponding needs of creativity, responsibility, and autonomy.
Technical Skills:
  • Technical and business knowledge to include financial modeling and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications is also required, including but not limited to Word and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with LabView, Mastercam, or Solidworks required.
Certificates & Licenses:  Lean Silver, Six Sigma, or Certified ME
